What Does It Mean to Be Kind?
Good morning, kids! Today, we’re going to talk about kindness. Have you ever thought about what kindness really is? It’s more than just saying “please” and “thank you.” It’s about showing love, helping others, and treating people the way we want to be treated.
Jesus was always kind. Everywhere He went, He showed love, helped people, and cared for them. And guess what? We can follow Jesus by doing the same things!
Jesus and the Little Children
Let’s think about one of the times when Jesus showed kindness to children like you. There was a day when a group of parents brought their children to Jesus so He could bless them. But the disciples thought Jesus was too busy and tried to send the children away.
What do you think Jesus did? Did He send them away? No! Jesus invited the children to come to Him. He spent time with them, showed them love, and reminded everyone that kids are precious to God.
Jesus showed us that kindness means making others feel loved and important. No matter how busy we are, we can always make time to be kind.
How Can We Show Kindness?
Kindness doesn’t have to be a big thing; small acts of kindness can make a big difference! Here are some simple ways you can be kind every day, just like Jesus:
- Help Someone in Need: Maybe a friend is struggling with their homework or needs help reaching something on the shelf. Lending a helping hand shows that you care.
- Speak Kind Words: Sometimes, words can be the best way to show kindness. Saying something nice or encouraging someone can make their day brighter!
- Share What You Have: If you have something you can share—a toy, a snack, or even a smile—sharing is a wonderful way to show kindness.
- Forgive Others: Sometimes, people make mistakes and might hurt our feelings. But Jesus teaches us to forgive. Forgiving someone is a powerful way to show kindness.
Why Is Kindness Important?
When we show kindness, we’re showing people what God’s love looks like. It’s like being a light in the world! Think of kindness like a small spark that can light up a whole room. When you do something kind, it can inspire others to be kind too, and soon everyone around you is sharing love and joy.
Activity: Kindness Challenge
This week, I have a kindness challenge for each of you! Every day, try to do at least one act of kindness. It could be helping at home, being nice to someone at school, or even just saying something kind. At the end of the week, think about how these small acts made a difference.
Closing Thought
Remember, you don’t have to be a grown-up to make a difference. You can make the world a better place right now by being kind. Jesus showed us how to love and care for others, and we can follow Him by doing the same.
Closing Prayer
“Dear Jesus, thank You for showing us what kindness looks like. Help us to be kind every day, to help others, and to spread love wherever we go. Let us be a light for You and make the world a better place through kindness. Amen.”
Final Words: Let’s all remember to carry kindness in our hearts this week. A little kindness goes a long way in showing others the love of Jesus.
